Pat didn’t leave until yesterday. There were tears and anger on her part. Lots of accusations about my motives, my aging process, my morality. Oh well. I celebrated last night by grilling a huge steak, sautéing some mushrooms and gobbling down two ears of the sweetest white corn. I shared with Catfish who was delighted with my largess until she puked it all up. Then she was a little despondent. Maybe Pat was right about my aging process. I know better than to give a wee dog rich food without the benefit of a little beer.

I made the mistake of ordering the pilot of Battlestar Galactic from Netflix. I am now into season 4 and completely obsessed. It has interesting philosophies, interesting leadership models, interesting role models, and interesting people. So, between that, watching golf (another new passion) playing on the internet and reading I have no time left for job hunting. Maybe next week.

Today I did review some job openings online. Not much available so I guess I’m going to put my name in the temp pool again. That’s always good for a slice of insanity. In the mean time three of my neighbors put their house up for sale over the weekend. One house sold a few months ago for the same amount I paid for mine fifteen years ago, so I wish them luck. Lots of sadness going around our little development.

I filled in at a copy center/printer last week for a few days and it was hard work. The pace there is extraordinary compared to a monthly magazine. The desk they gave me was in a huge, hot room along with 11 other people, a few copy machines, and a small printer---all of which made noise and heat. The sales staff dropped jobs on my desk like I was a short order cook. Luckily, nothing required complicated design or technique. Mostly typesetting and some imaginative layout. It was kind of fun, mainly because the days went by in a flash. I’m going back for a week starting this Thursday. I have a feeling the work will last through the summer since I’m filling in for one of the other eleven grunt workers who is going on vacation. From the looks and sound of things, the other ten will need vacations soon too.
Kate's award winning romance novel

A Place to Find Me by Kate
Cassie is a forty-six-year-old waitress living in Texas. Her lover has left. Her best friend has moved. If Cassie were paying attention, she would notice that her life is a mess. But she has a dog and a house full of memories to keep her warm at night until her mother dies when she suddenly becomes head of a family business--and not a particularly friendly family at that. She finds solace in the arms of an employee only to find out that the lovely woman comes at a very high price. But it isn't until tragedy blind sides Cassie that she is able to step into a world of purpose and hope. If only Haley hadn't come along...
